Banana Crab Large (Geosesarma sp.)

Care Guide: 

Habitat 

• Semi-terrestrial (primarily land dwelling) 
• Recommended enclosure: 70–80% land, 20–30% shallow freshwater 
• Deep, moist substrate for burrowing (minimum 4", deeper preferred) 
• Plenty of cork bark, wood, rocks, leaf litter, and hiding places 
• Secure, escape-proof enclosure 

Environmental Requirements 

• Temperature: 24–28°C (75–82°F) • Humidity: 70–90% 
• Fresh, dechlorinated water available at all times 

Diet 

Banana Crabs are opportunistic omnivores and readily accept: 

• Quality crab or shrimp pellets 
• Sinking fish foods 
• Earthworms and insects 
• Snails 
• Fresh vegetables (sweet potato, squash, peas, carrots) 
• Occasional fruit 
• Calcium source (such as cuttlebone or crushed oyster shell) 

Behavior 

• Mostly nocturnal 
• Excellent diggers and climbers
• Can be territorial, especially in crowded enclosures 
• Best housed with plenty of space and multiple hiding areas 

Important Notes These should not be kept in a standard aquarium setup. They thrive in humid paludarium-style enclosures with significantly more land than water, very similar to Vampire Crabs. 

Size: 1-1.5 in carapace, 3-3.2in leg spa
